Mary Eugenie Mattocks (Willy)
completed her Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Visiting Education in
London and Southampton, England. She has been in involved
in midwifery for over 30 years in several countries and
various settings, and is a strong and passionate advocate
for homebirth. Willy was instrumental in establishing a
midwifery "grass-roots" movement in Ontario,
Canada in late 70s and early 80s, which led to the Provincial
Government recognizing Midwifery as a legitimate profession
and homebirth as an acceptable alternative to hospital birth. Her
US degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and
a Master of Science in Nursing Education. She currently
works as a Community Health Nurse. She is a member of
the Royal College of Midwives and The American College of
Nurse Midwives. For "light" relief she flies and
maintains her Piper Cherokee airplane.
